PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating a video featuring a voice recording allegedly resembling a state political leader, believed to contain defamatory, deceptive, and insulting remarks about the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid.

Arau police chief Ahmad Mohsin Rodi said Arau Umno Youth secretary Hazalan Haron lodged the report at about 5.30pm today after watching a video featuring the voice recording, Bernama reported.

“The recording was disseminated openly across several social media platforms and contains false information that could affect the dignity and reputation of the Perlis royal institution,” Mohsin said in a statement.

He said investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Perlis Umno Youth secretary Ahmad Nazrin Abdul Aziz said the police report was not politically motivated but made out of moral responsibility and in the spirit of defending the constitutional monarchy.

He said the integrity and dignity of the royal institution must always be preserved for the wellbeing of the people and the stability of the state.
