PETALING JAYA:
The government has set aside close to RM1.4 billion under the 2026 budget to help people with disabilities, especially those who are immobile or unable to work.

The sum would also be used for the disabled workers allowance for those who are employed, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said when tabling the national budget in the Dewan Rakyat this evening.

“People with disabilities are a part of us who are special and talented.”

Anwar also said autism service centres, which were set up in the peninsula, would also be established in Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak which will benefit some 13,000 autistic people and their families.

He went on to say that Prasarana has committed to provide 100 special vans to help people with disabilities get around.

“These vans can fit three wheelchair-bound passengers.”
