Melaka police chief Zulkhairi Mukhtar said a man who serves as a special officer to the chief minister lodged a report after coming across the 14-second video on social media platform Threads.
“Police investigations found that the writing translates to ‘Malaysia is our home’ or ‘Malaysia is in our hands’,” he said in a statement.
Further checks revealed that the vehicle is registered under a man with an address in Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.
Zulkhairi said the case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for causing fear or public alarm, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the misuse of network facilities.
“We advise the public not to speculate or spread unverified information related to the video, as a transparent investigation will be conducted to ensure the safety and harmony of the community,” he said.
