Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said six men and one woman, aged between 30 and 56, were arrested. Various assets worth an estimated RM158,350 – including three vehicles and cash – were also seized.
He said three men were arrested on Oct 1 at 5.50pm while they were in a vehicle parked in front of a house in Subang Jaya, where police found 50.30g of methamphetamine.
“A search of the two-storey terrace house led to the arrest of two more men and a woman during which police found 1.59kg of meth and 100g of ecstasy,” he said.
“Interrogation of the suspects then led to a raid on a second house in Subang Jaya, where police seized 111.89kg of ecstasy pills and powder, 20.4kg of heroin, 1.8kg of heroin base, as well as 17 bottles of chemical liquids and three bottles of chemical powder,” he told a press conference here today.
Shazeli said investigations revealed that the terrace house had been used as a storage facility before the drugs were distributed around the Klang Valley, and that it was in the process of being converted into a drug-processing laboratory.
“Five of the six suspects have prior drug-related records, and all tested positive for drugs,” he said.
In a separate case, Shazeli said police discovered a mechanic’s method of concealing drugs in a modified sports utility vehicle (SUV), where the boot had been converted into a hidden compartment. The suspect was stopped by police on a road in Serdang at about 1am on Sunday.
He said an inspection of the SUV’s storage compartment, which required an access card to open, uncovered 63.7kg of meth and 20.1kg of ecstasy pills, estimated to be worth RM5.4 million.
“The compartment was modified to conceal drugs packed in several suitcases,” he said.
Shazeli said the 39-year-old local man was believed to be a courier for drug deliveries in Selangor and Johor, receiving between RM1,000 and RM3,000 for each trip.
He said the suspect also ran a spare parts and repair business for imported vehicles.
“Further checks found that the suspect had two prior drug-related records, while initial screening tested him positive for drugs,” he said, adding that all the seized drugs were believed to be destined for the Selangor and Johor markets.
Shazeli said all seven suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations.
