
In Kedah, the number of evacuees taking shelter at the Pokok Sena multipurpose hall rose to 100 from 30 families, compared with 86 from 25 families last night.
Kedah civil defence force deputy director Suhaimi Zain said the increase followed the relocation of evacuees from Mukim Lesong, involving Kampung Permatang Limau, to the centre.
He said only two rivers – Sungai Ketil in Kampung Bongor, Baling, and Sungai Bata in Kampung Bata, Kubang Pasu – were at the alert level.
In Perak, the number of flood evacuees in the Larut, Matang and Selama districts remained at 107 from 33 families, placed at three relief centres in Taiping as of 8am today.
The state disaster management committee secretariat said 22 residents from eight families at Taman Mawar, Taman Simpang Makmur, Taman Indah, Taman Kota Jaya and Kampung Jalapang Jaya were being accommodated at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang.
Thirty-eight victims from 11 families from Kampung Matang Jambu and Kampung Telok Kertang are still taking shelter at SK Matang, while 47 victims from 14 families from Kampung Matang Pasir and Kampung Matang Gelugor are housed at SK Matang Gelugor.
Thunderstorms have been forecast this afternoon in Larut, Matang and Selama, Kerian, Perak Tengah, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar and Batang Padang.
In Johor, the number of flood victims relocated to a relief entre in Pontian remained at 159 from 46 families as of 8am
Johor disaster management committee secretariat chairman Asman Shah Abd Rahman said the centre at SK Melayu Raya, which opened at 6am yesterday, was housing residents from five villages – Kampung Melayu Raya, Kampung Paya Embun, Kampung Pak Kalib, Kampung Seri Menanti and Kampung Maju Jaya.
Fine weather was reported in the district this morning.
