Footballer’s mum-in-law, 4 others held over fake passport stamp syndicate

Gombak police say the arrests follow the seizure of items believed to have been used to forge immigration department stamps.

PETALING JAYA:
A 47-year-old woman, who is the mother-in-law of a national football player, and four foreign men have been remanded for a week to assist in an investigation into a passport stamp forgery case.

Gombak police chief Noor Ariffin Nasir said they were arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the Gombak police headquarters’ commercial crime investigation division.

He said a 27-year-old foreign man was arrested during a raid at an apartment in Gombak, which led to the seizure of items suspected to have been used to forge immigration department stamps, Berita Harian reported.

Following the arrest, police detained three more foreign men, aged between 39 and 47, and the woman at several locations around Shah Alam.

All the suspects have been remanded until Oct 8 to assist in the investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
