In a statement today, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Usuf Jan Mohamad said the paper was completed and sent to the deputy public prosecutor on Wednesday. He said the deputy public prosecutor returned it with several orders attached.
He said 67 people have had their statements recorded so far, 52 of them comprising police witnesses, including Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus.
The other 15 witnesses comprise three Kuala Lumpur court officers, two civil defence force officers, two medical officers from Kuala Lumpur Hospital, a lawyer, a residents’ representative from Kampung Sungai Baru, a director of KL City Gateway Sdn Bhd, four complainants from the public, and the guardian of one of those arrested.
Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said on Monday that investigations were being conducted under Sections 186, 324 and 353 of the Penal Code.
Section 186 deals with obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his duties while Section 324 involves voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Section 353 covers the use of criminal force to deter a public servant from carrying out his duties.
Those arrested to aid the investigations included Zaharuddin Muhammad, the Sungai Buloh PAS chief and son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
The commotion on Sept 11 erupted as the authorities were evicting residents from 37 houses, with 14 homeowners refusing to vacate their homes.
During a stand-off between the authorities and residents, Sulizmie was struck on the head by an object flung by one of the protesters. Eleven people, including Zaharuddin, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said seven of the suspects were not residents but leaders and members of an “organisation”.
