Cops nab man in Johor for damaging bank machines, cars with hoe

The 54-year-old suspect also tested positive for drug use, say police.

PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man for allegedly damaging an automatic teller machine, a cash deposit machine, and cars by using a hoe in front of a bank at Taman Bukit Dahlia, Pasir Gudang, Johor.

Seri Alam acting police chief Vikra Mathitthan @ Victor Genason said this followed a police report lodged by a 56-year-old man, and a video of the incident which went viral on social media.

He said police arrested the 54-year-old suspect following the incident which happened at about 7.45am yesterday, and seized a hoe used and 0.9g of methamphetamine.

Vikra said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine use and that he also had a record for six previous criminal and drug-related offences.

“The suspect has been remanded for three days until Sept 19 for further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code (for mischief), and Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (for drug possession and abuse),” he said.
