Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he would ask Johari to look into the matter as he is the Titiwangsa MP.
“I will ask him to handle this matter immediately,” he told reporters after attending the Global Islamic Financial Summit.
Earlier today, it was reported that Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman was hurt in a stand-off with residents, who were set to be evicted today. Three people have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus later said the authorities were merely executing a writ of vacant possession issued by the court for 37 terrace houses in Kampung Sungai Baru.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail have condemned the incident, with the former ordering an immediate investigation.
Zahid said the residents had been served with an eviction notice a long time ago.
The redevelopment of Kampung Sungai Baru was initiated in 2016 but had stalled due to legal issues, compensation disputes and disagreements among residents.
