PETALING JAYA:
Police have ordered an investigation after a 48-year-old man detained over a motorcycle theft died in the Seremban police lockup.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the detainee was found unconscious at about 6.30pm after being roused by another detainee and was pronounced dead by a medical team.

A post-mortem revealed no internal or external injuries on the body, he said in a statement today. Police are awaiting the full report to determine the cause of death.

Alzafny said the CCTV footage from the lockup showed no fights or suspicious activity.

He said the man had been arrested two days earlier for a motorcycle theft and was brought before a magistrate in good health for a remand application.
