
The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) said a 2.5-magnitude quake occurred around 7.56pm about 13km north of Segamat at a depth of 10km.
“Tremors were felt in Johor. The department is continuing to monitor the situation,” it said in a post on X.
In a Bernama report, Segamat district officer Ezzuddin Sanusi said no property damage, injuries or fatalities had been reported so far.
Ezzuddin, who chairs the Segamat district disaster management committee, said initial reports indicated that the tremor was felt in Segamat and nearby areas.
He said security authorities and related agencies are monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
“The public is advised to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and follow updates from MetMalaysia and relevant government agencies,” he said.
Two earthquakes were reported in Segamat and Kluang on Sunday. The first earthquake, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, struck Segamat at 6.13am. A 2.8-magnitude earthquake was later detected in Kluang at around 9am.
Tremors were felt in several parts of Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Pahang, with some property owners reporting damage.
Yesterday, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake was detected in Segamat, with tremors felt in Johor and southern Pahang.
