KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have arrested two Chinese nationals suspected of trespassing on a restricted security forces area here on Aug 6.

Wangsa Maju police chief Lazim Ismail said the two men, in their 20s, were caught flying a drone at a football field near a building.

According to him, the two were detained by security personnel before being handed over to the criminal investigation division of the Wangsa Maju police headquarters.

“Drones and memory cards were also seized,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Lazim said the two, who had valid travel documents, claimed they were ordered to get the drone footage by their employers, but did not know the purpose of the recording.

He said both men were charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court yesterday under Sections 3(a) and 4 of the Official Secrets Act for spying and documenting within restricted areas.

The accused pleaded not guilty after the charges were read in Mandarin.

Judge Izralizam Sanusi denied bail and set Sept 11 for the appointment of lawyers and submission of documents.
