All GRS assembly members to defend their seats, says PBS chief

Joachim Gunsalam, acting president of GRS component party PBS, reportedly made the announcement at a divisional meeting.

GRS holds 42 seats in the Sabah state assembly, whose term expires on Nov 11, unless dissolved earlier.
PETALING JAYA:
All state assemblymen from the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition will defend their seats in the coming state assembly elections, a GRS leader said today.
Joachim Gunsalam.

Joachim Gunsalam announced this at the annual meeting of Parti Bersatu Sabah’s (PBS) Telupid division, The Borneo Post reported.

Gunsalam, who is acting president of PBS, urged members to support division chief Jonnybone Kurum for re-election to the Telupid state assembly seat.

He said the GRS government is capable of guaranteeing political stability in Sabah as it comprises eight local parties that place priority on the state’s development. This stability has been a key driver of economic growth since GRS assumed leadership of the state, said Gunsalam, who is state minister of local government and housing.

GRS holds 42 seats in the 79-member state assembly, of which PBS holds seven seats. The current state assembly’s five-year term expires on Nov 11, unless dissolved earlier to pave the way for fresh elections.
