Six Malaysians have been charged in Cambodia with attempting to smuggle nearly 62kg of cannabis.

According to The Phnom Penh Post, the group was arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on July 16 when officials seized 61.8kg of cannabis packed in four suitcases.

The group had intended to transport the drugs from Phnom Penh to Hong Kong, and then to London, the report said.

The suspects were charged under Article 40 of Cambodia’s Law on Drug Control, and investigations are ongoing to identify other possible accomplices.
