PETALING JAYA:
The government has decided to make it mandatory for all shopping malls to have recycling facilities from Jan 1 next year.

Housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming said the requirement decided by the national local government council would become part of the business licence terms imposed on malls.

He said this was part of his ministry’s efforts to manage plastic waste in Malaysia, Bernama reported.

“Any shopping mall that does not provide (recycling facilities) will not be granted a business licence by the local authority,” he was quoted as saying.
