Jasin police chief Rusli Mat told Bernama the suspect was arrested at a supermarket near the Telok Mas industrial area at about 9pm yesterday, following a report lodged earlier.
He said a 19-year-old female victim was approached by the suspect on a red-and-black motorcycle on July 16 at about 2am.
He claimed to be a police officer and asked for her driving licence. He also tried to grab the key to her motorcycle.
“The victim refused to give her licence to the suspect and insisted they go to the Merlimau police station if he wanted to take further action. The suspect then fled the scene,” Rusli said in a statement here today.
He said the suspect confessed during interrogation that his motive was only to intimidate the victim. He also admitted to impersonating a police officer on two occasions in the Merlimau area.
Police have seized a motorcycle believed to have been used during the incident, along with several items.
The suspect has been remanded for three days from today to assist in investigations under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant.
