Cleaner charged with molesting nurse in operating theatre

The 30-year-old foreigner is accused of outraging the modesty of the 32-year-old victim at Melaka Hospital.

PETALING JAYA:
A 30-year-old cleaner was charged in the Ayer Keroh magistrates’ court today with molesting a nurse in an operating theatre last month.

Bokhari Abu Boshir Mohammad, a Bangladeshi national, claimed trial after the charge was read to him before magistrate Sharda Sheinha Suleiman, Berita Harian reported.

Bokhari was charged with using criminal force with the intent to outrage the modesty of the 32-year-old nurse in an operating theatre at Melaka Hospital at about 8.30pm on June 9.

The offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping or any two of those punishments upon conviction.

The court fixed bail at RM4,000 with two Malaysian sureties who live in Melaka. The accused was also ordered to surrender his passport and report to the police every month.

Document submission was fixed for July 18.
