PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan MPs were briefed on the issue related to the judiciary, among others, in a meeting with the prime minister which lasted nearly two hours, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said.

He said law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said explained Article 125 of the Federal Constitution to the MPs, Berita Harian reported.

The article outlines the appointment, tenure, and removal of judges.

“She also touched on the setting up of a tribunal among judges and other related matters. That was all (that was discussed),” Fahmi was quoted as saying.

Separately, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was reported by Utusan Malaysia as saying the meeting at Seri Perdana, his official residence, went well.

He did not go into details on what was discussed.

“It went very well, I am headed to Shah Alam,” he told reporters camped outside Seri Perdana and gave the thumbs up.

Earlier it was reported that PKR duo Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who resigned from the Cabinet following their defeats in the party elections, did not attend the meeting.

Anwar also met Barisan Nasional MPs on Friday night, which he said was to clear the air on several current issues, including taxation, the RON95 petrol subsidy, and matters involving the judiciary.
