Fire destroys cotton factory in Rawang

More than 20 firefighters were involved in putting out the blaze, which damaged most of the building.

PETALING JAYA:
A fire destroyed most of a cotton factory at Bandar Country Homes in Rawang this morning, although no injuries were reported.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a distress call at 10.14am about the fire at Carefree Cotton Industrial Sdn Bhd at Batu 22, Jalan Kundang.

The factory was already badly damaged when they arrived.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 11.25am, but work to completely extinguish it remains ongoing.

Officials said that around 90% of the building was destroyed. No casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
