Man found dead in Ipoh house was shot, say cops

The 57-year-old victim's son has been remanded until July 1.

PETALING JAYA:
A 57-year-old man in Ipoh, Perak, who was believed to have been killed by his son on Tuesday, died from a gunshot to the chest, according to police.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the man, who was found dead in a house at Taman Tasek Damai on Tuesday night, was also stabbed in the abdomen and had slash wounds on his chest.

The body was sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for an autopsy, where the gunshot wound was discovered.

Police arrested the son just after midnight yesterday and placed him under remand until July 1. The suspect does not have a criminal record.

The case is being investigated for murder.

Previously, Abang Zainal said the suspect claimed he returned home from work at around 7.30pm and found the front gate closed, but the grille and glass doors open. He said the living room sofa was in disarray.

He told the cops that he discovered the victim in the kitchen, lying on his back in a pool of blood. Police received a call at around 8.25pm.
