Man gets 400 stitches after parang attack in Nilai

Police arrested four suspects, as well as the victim, following the Sunday morning incident.

PETALING JAYA:
A man received 400 stitches after being slashed by a group of men with parangs outside a fast-food restaurant in Bandar Baru Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, on Sunday.

Nilai police chief Abdul Malik Hasim said the victim informed the police of his injuries after the incident, which took place at 2.30am.

He said police then arrested four suspects around Nilai, remanding them until tomorrow to assist in the investigation.

Malik said police also arrested the victim on suspicion of rioting, but freed him on bail two days later.

“The victim, a local man in his 30s, was only remanded for two days due to his condition,” Harian Metro reported him as saying.

The case is being investigated under Sections 148, 326 and 427 of the Penal Code for rioting with a deadly weapon, voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, and mischief leading to damage respectively.

It was previously reported that a man in his 30s had suffered injuries to his head and legs after being attacked by an unknown group of assailants with parangs and sticks.
