P-hailing rider trying to beat red light crashes into car

Police say the rider only required outpatient treatment for his injuries.

A 19-year-old p-hailing rider trying to beat a red light in Kuala Lumpur ended up suffering injuries after crashing into a car and somersaulting in the air.

Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Zamzuri Isa said the incident at Jalan Awan Besar on Sunday left the motorcyclist with injuries on his hand and lips.

He only required outpatient treatment, Zamzuri said in a statement.

“Preliminary checks of CCTV footage found that, during the incident, the motorcyclist was trying to beat the traffic light.

“Meanwhile, the traffic light for the lane that the car was in had changed to green.”

A viral video of the incident showed that the car had already turned just as the light turned green.
