
PETALING JAYA: A seven-month-old baby boy died while under the care of a childcare centre in Taman Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday morning.
Wangsa Maju deputy police chief Syahrul Anuar Abdul Wahab said a post-mortem was under way to determine the cause of death.
“Statements from the childcare centre and other relevant individuals will be recorded,” he said in a statement.
The sexual, women and child investigation division of the Kuala Lumpur criminal investigation department is handling the probe.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of children.
Those found guilty may face a fine not exceeding RM20,000, a prison term of up to 10 years, or both.
