PETALING JAYA:
MCA Youth is demanding that housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming apologise for claiming it had been trying to destabilise the unity government since day one.

The wing’s chief, Ling Tian Soon, said Nga’s allegations, made in response to concerns raised by MCA on the MyKiosk 2.0 project, were “baseless”, and that MCA was dismayed by his response.

Ling said MCA has consistently voiced and spoken out on issues that affect Malaysians to ensure that the relevant authorities and government bodies resolve them.

“While other ministries usually respond with data and facts, Nga has not done so.

“Instead, he accuses MCA of having an agenda to join Perikatan Nasional. Such claims are disrespectful and highly unbecoming of a Cabinet minister,” he said, adding that Nga could have chosen to correct MCA if it made a mistake.

At a press conference two days ago, Nga said MCA was the “worst party ever”, as despite being part of the unity government, it was trying to smear the government’s image and “engineer a move to defect to PN”.

Yesterday, Selangor MCA Youth filed a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission calling for an investigation into the RM250 million MyKiosk project under Nga’s ministry.

Its chief, Tan Jie Sen, claimed that despite the significant investment, only slightly more than half of the kiosks were being occupied.

Pahang MCA Youth had previously asked why the government was paying RM25,000 to RM34,000 a kiosk when the market price was only RM12,800 a unit.

Nga said the RM25,000 figure was misleading as it included the cost of solar panels, fans, stoves, transport, installation and site set-up.
