Five of the suspects have been remanded for five days, while one has been remanded for three days to assist in the investigation.
According to a source, the suspects, including two women, were arrested at 5.30pm yesterday when they provided their statements at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
“The two main suspects, who are a director and an engineer in a government department in the capital, are believed to have solicited and received bribes from contractors awarded development and maintenance contracts under their supervision from 2021 to now,” said the source.
The other four suspects are believed to have acted as intermediaries in obtaining bribes from contractors.
The investigation found that the two main suspects received bribes totalling about RM115,000 from the intermediaries in the form of cash, home renovation funding, and mobile phones.
MACC also seized two pickup trucks and about RM165,000 in cash after raids on 10 premises in the Klang Valley and Johor yesterday.
