KUALA LUMPUR:
Police are investigating an online news portal for allegedly publishing a report regarding the discovery of Pamela Ling’s body in a house in Petaling Jaya, which went viral on social media yesterday.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said his team has opened an investigation paper under Section 504 of the Penal Code dealing with intent to provoke a breach of the public peace, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 dealing with improper use of network facilities or network services.

“We will call the parties involved to record their statements,” he said.

Yesterday, police denied a report circulating on social media from an online news portal titled “Police Interview Pamela Ling’s Children and Family Friend in Death Investigation”, calling it false.

Hussein said no reports had been received by his department regarding the discovery of a body in a house in Petaling Jaya as stated in the report.

Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in Putrajaya using an e-hailing service.

A missing persons’ report was received at 3.02pm the same day.
