KUALA LUMPUR:
A family outing in Hulu Langat turned perilous today when 18 people, including seven children, were trapped by a sudden water surge at Sungai Lepoh.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said the group, comprising three men, eight women, and seven children, was confronted with rapidly rising water levels.

They were rescued by a team of seven firefighters by 6.32pm, the department’s assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said.

However, a woman in her 30s suffered breathing difficulties and was handed over to health officials.
