PETALING JAYA:
A government hospital in Perlis has filed a police report after a 23-year-old man posed as an assistant medical officer, complete with uniform and a bag of medical equipment.

The state health department said the incident occurred at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah in Kangar at about 9.30pm on April 8, with the man admitting to having purchased the uniform and equipment online.

“The individual pretended to be an assistant medical officer because he had a deep interest in the medical profession,” it said in a statement today.

It said the hospital’s management was immediately informed about the incident and a police report was lodged the next day.

“This department views the matter seriously and has ordered the hospital to tighten its security measures. We would also like to remind the public that pretending to be a civil servant is a crime under Section 170 of the Penal Code,” it said.
