PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s working visit to Thailand which ended today has attracted potential exports of more than RM1 billion, said the investment, trade and industry ministry (Miti).

The ministry said eight Thai companies expressed interest in importing oil and gas, energy, automotive parts, construction products, and medical devices from Malaysia.

“Collectively, these companies presented a combined potential sourcing value of RM1 billion (US$244 million) from Malaysia, underscoring the country’s attractiveness as a reliable trade and supply chain partner,” said the ministry in a statement.

Thailand is Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner within Asean and seventh globally. Bilateral trade stood at US$25.06 billion last year, with border trade making up 40% of the share.
