PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia’s fifth prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who died this evening at the age of 85, will be laid to rest in the Warriors’ Mausoleum tomorrow afternoon.

In a press conference this evening, his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin said Abdullah’s remains will be brought to the National Mosque tomorrow morning.

“From 11am to 1pm, Tun Abdullah’s remains will be placed in the main hall of the National Mosque to allow members of the public to pay their final respects.

“After zohor prayers, funeral prayers will be held for Pak Lah. After that, he will be laid to rest in the Warriors’ Mausoleum of the National Mosque,” he said, adding that his remains will first be taken to his residence in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

Khairy thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for confirming and consenting to Abdullah’s burial in the mausoleum.

National Heart Institute (IJN) CEO Dr Ezani Taib said in the end, Abdullah suffered from multiple organ failure, which led to his death.

Earlier this evening, Khairy confirmed Abdullah’s death in an Instagram post, saying he passed away at 7.10pm at IJN.

Abdullah is survived by his wife Jeanne Abdullah and two children, Nori and Kamaluddin, from his first wife Endon Mahmood, who died of breast cancer in 2005.

He also had two stepchildren, Nadiah Kimie and Nadene Kimie, from Jeanne’s previous marriage.
