
He said the state government has consistently played its part through educational programmes conducted in mosques, suraus and schools, Bernama reported.
“We have made every effort within the government’s jurisdiction, but if parents fail to monitor their children, these efforts will be difficult to succeed,” he was quoted as saying after attending the Kelantan PAS Hari Raya Aidilftiri open house in Kota Bharu today,
Nassuruddin said each individual is responsible for protecting themselves and their family members from “the fires of hell”.
“We hope parents are more aware and play a bigger role in educating their children, given that they spend more time at home,” he said.
“Parents must take responsibility and monitor their children’s movements.”
His remarks come following a spike in rape and incest cases in Kelantan this year, but investigations revealed that many were cases of consensual sex.
According to Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat, 252 such cases were reported in 2024, a 22.3% increase from 206 cases in 2023.
