PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating a claim that there was a hit and run in an accident near the Menora Tunnel on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her toddler.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said they were tracking down the owner of a multipurpose vehicle allegedly involved in the crash, Sinar Harian reported.

In the incident at about 6.45pm last Sunday, a car driven by Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahim, 29, spun at Km264.4 (southbound) of the highway.

Rahman’s daughter, Naira Falisha, two, was thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene. His wife, Nur Fatihah Badrul Hisham, 25, who was also thrown out, died the following day while being treated in hospital.

A dash camera recording of the incident, which went viral, showed an MPV failing to brake in time and appearing to run over Nur Fatihah.

A family member took to social media to appeal for the public to help trace the driver of the vehicle, saying they had fled the scene.
