PETALING JAYA:
A secondary school student died while two others sustained serious injuries in Pasir Putih, Kelantan, after their car collided with a four-wheel drive which had veered into the opposite lane.

Besut police chief Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said Nazriel Nu’man Mat Nawi, 17, died at the scene on Jalan Bukit Jeruk-Benting Lintang near Kampung Bukit Jeruk in Jertih, Pasir Putih, Bernama reported.

He said the 4WD driven by a man and carrying his wife and two children lost control after it went over a bump, causing it to veer into the opposite lane.

It then collided with the left rear area of an oncoming car, which Nazriel and three of his friends were in, killing Nazriel, who was seated in the left rear passenger seat.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
