Berita Harian reported Johor Bahru Utara police chief Radin Ramlan Radin Taha as saying police were informed of the accident at 4.25am.
He said the car was driven by a 19-year-old boy, with a 16-year-old girl in the passenger seat and an 18-year-old boy in the back seat.
“The three friends were headed from Johor Bahru to Tampoi at the time. The driver lost control of the car and rammed into a concrete wall at the side of the road,” he said.
Radin said the driver and girl both suffered severe head injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene, while the boy in the back seat was severely injured and is receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, and urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966.
