
In an address to the nation on the eve of Hari Raya, he said: “Without mutual respect, compassion, and love for each other, this country will not be able to guarantee the stability and peace that we all hope for.”
He also said Malaysians should show concern for those who were often neglected, including the Palestinians undergoing oppression in Gaza.
Anwar said he had toured the country throughout the fasting month, and attended events by the various ministries, which allowed him to listen to the people’s grievances and suggestions at first hand.
Anwar also said these trips allowed him to gauge the efficiency of the federal, state, and local governments.
“We will continue to drive economic growth, but our true strength will lie in our success in elevating the living standard of the majority of the population,” he said.
He also pledged to deliver reforms for the welfare of the people.
The deputy prime ministers, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fadillah Yusuf, also called for efforts to maintain national unity and harmony, Bernama reported.
Zahid said Malaysians must embrace the Madani spirit, which he said emphasised love, harmony, and unity which he described as a pillar of the nation’s progress.
Fadillah said the lessons from the holy month should be upheld at all times and not be limited to Ramadan alone. “We are encouraged to remain steadfast and practise moderation in all matters, especially while celebrating Aidilfitri.”
