PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a mother and her daughter in connection with the discovery of a baby’s body in a toilet bowl at a petrol station in Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani last Sunday.

Sabak Bernam police chief Yusof Ahmad said the first suspect, a 41-year-old woman, was apprehended at around 6.15pm yesterday at a factory compound in Meru, Klang, Berita Harian reported.

Police later arrested the second suspect, an 18-year-old fast-food restaurant worker, at around 8.30pm the same day in Meru.

“Further investigations revealed that the first suspect was unaware that her daughter was pregnant,” Yusof was quoted as saying in a statement.

Police also seized a Perodua Bezza car, clothing, mobile phones, and other items from both suspects.

“An investigation paper has been opened under Section 318 of the Penal Code (concealment of birth).

“A remand order for both suspects was obtained from the Kuala Selangor magistrates’ court, and they have been remanded until March 29,” he said.

Previously, it was reported that a baby’s body had been found in a toilet bowl at the petrol station.

Preliminary investigations found that CCTV footage had captured a pregnant woman entering the women’s restroom, accompanied by another woman.
