
With an allocation of RM1.7 billion, recipients will receive up to RM650, depending on their eligibility.
The ministry said recipients registered in the STR database would receive their payments in stages through their bank accounts or by cash at Bank Simpanan Nasional branches.
“The Madani government remains committed to supporting the people in coping with the rising cost of living, especially ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said in a statement today.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, added that the government’s decision to increase STR and SARA allocations by RM3 billion, or 30%, to RM13 billion in 2024 was to improve the standard of living fairly.
A year-round registration system has also been introduced for STR 2025 to ensure that more eligible Malaysians benefit from the financial aid.
Malaysians not listed in the STR database must submit an application for verification based on the eligibility criteria.
