
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects were arrested in Klang, Kajang, Ampang, and Gombak, and that three of them had criminal records, Harian Metro reported.
Hussein said six investigation papers had been opened under Section 47 of the Societies Act for publishing the propaganda of an unlawful society, which is punishable by up to two years in jail, a maximum RM5,000 fine, or both, upon conviction.
One of the suspects has also been charged under Section 43 of the act with being a member of an unlawful society. If convicted, he faces a maximum three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
The other five suspects are also being probed for being members of an unlawful society.
