Johor Islamic affairs committee chairman Fared Khalid said two of them were first-year Islamic law students from Johor, Berita Harian reported.
“I have been informed by the Johor education attache at the Malaysian embassy in Egypt that four students, two of them from Johor, were involved in an accident in Jordan.
“The two students from Johor are Zakwan Azhar Masjudin and Ilham Dzurllkanian@Zulkarnian,” he was quoted as saying.
According to Fared, the two students from Johor and one more from Selangor are in stable condition. He said the fourth student was still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Jordan.
Separately, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari confirmed that the two other students, Sumayya Azamuddin and Fatimah Nuha Mustaza, are from Selangor, Kosmo reported.
“Sumayya is reportedly in stable condition while Fatimah was critically injured and is receiving further treatment.
“My office is in contact with the students’ next of kin and we will continue to monitor the situation,” he was quoted as saying.
Amirudin said that the state government is ready to provide the necessary aid and support to the students’ families.
