PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation into the commotion that reportedly occurred during the annual meeting of PKR’s Kuala Selangor division on Sunday.

Kuala Selangor police chief Azharudin Tajudin said a report was received from a woman who had attended the meeting.

“Following the report, the Kuala Selangor police opened an investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the complainant told the police that a man had threatened her with a parang at the meeting.

“The man then moved closer to her and continued to provoke her,” he added.

Azharudin urged those with information on the incident to contact the Kuala Selangor police headquarters at 03-32891222 or the nearest police station.

Kuala Selangor PKR secretary Vikneswar Krishna Moorthy filed a report at the Bestari Jaya police station after a commotion at the meeting involving a group led by three individuals, including a Selangor PKR Youth leader.

A video clip of the argument has been making rounds on social media.

Vikneswar said he attempted to reason with them but found the group uncooperative.

Thiban Subbramaniam, the Kuala Selangor PKR chief, said on Monday that he had filed a report at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters over the commotion and against Edisi Siasat, which had published the video of the incident.

“As the party elections draw closer, acts of sabotage to damage the party’s image have become more frequent. I leave this matter to the police for further investigation.

“I will also leave it to the party’s leaders to decide on any action against those involved,” he said in a Facebook post.
