Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said an autopsy on Hud Aryan’s body, which was found at a river in Kampung Kerila yesterday, found no injuries or criminal elements, Berita Harian reported.
“Nonetheless, I have ordered the (Tanah Merah) police chief to conduct further investigations,” he said, adding that some had questioned how the child could reach the river from the family home in a matter of minutes.
“Therefore, we will record the statements of the victim’s parents today. We are concerned that there may be an element of negligence,” said Yusoff.
However, he maintained that no investigation paper had been opened yet and the case had been classified as sudden death.
Yesterday, Hud Aryan’s body was found caught in tree roots at the mouth of a river in Kampung Kerila yesterday, 7km from the family’s home.
The child was first reported missing when his family realised he was not inside the house at around 7.20pm on Monday.
Prior to the incident, the toddler was at home and had been fed his dinner by his mother. The family only realised he was missing when a relative came by for a visit later and asked where he was.
