Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) initially accused the Kelantan government of being “cruel” for purportedly neglecting the welfare of the Orang Asli community, in relation to alleged iron ore mining in the state.
His remark sparked immediate objections from opposition MPs, prompting Johari to intervene.
“The investigation is not done yet. So please withdraw the word ‘cruel government’. Thank you,” Johari instructed Khoo.
Tensions escalated when RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) accused Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) of unfairly blaming DAP for the country’s problems.
“I want Pendang to withdraw his statement. He still hasn’t repented despite being kicked out many times,” said Rayer.
Awang fired back: “The country is in ruins because of DAP.”
This prompted Johari to issue a stern rebuke to the PAS MP, who was his former aide.
“Pendang, don’t cross that line. You can’t say the country is in ruins because of DAP. As MPs, all of you must use your brains when you speak,” he said.
Awang, however, continued his tirade, claiming that “DAP is anti-Islam”.
Rayer immediately demanded the opposition MP retract his statement, but Johari intervened again before Awang could respond, expressing his disappointment with the antics of the PAS man.
“I’m extremely disappointed with you, Pendang. Don’t be emotional. Speak like an intellectual. You are a graduate. You were my former officer. I hope you can behave.
“You’re from Kedah, just like me. It’s embarrassing for us. Please don’t get too emotional. This is your last warning from me,” Johari told Awang.
