KUALA LUMPUR: Police confirmed receiving a report of an incident where a man allegedly sexually assaulted a girl at Masjed Jamek Sungai Masin in Batang Kali, Selangor, this morning.
Hulu Selangor police chief Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said investigations are under way.
“We’ve received the police report. The case is being investigated,” he told FMT, adding that a statement would be issued soon.
Earlier, CCTV footage went viral showing the man sneaking into the ladies’ area of the mosque before scooping up the girl while she was performing morning prayers behind a congregation of women.
Netizens have called on the police to immediately arrest the perpetrator and probe the incident thoroughly.
