The body of the 48-year-old man who fell from KM5.5 of the Penang Bridge yesterday was found this morning following an extensive search operation.

Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the man, who was from Bayan Lepas, fell from the bridge at around 2.15am yesterday.

He said authorities launched a search operation with the help of the fire and rescue department and other agencies after receiving a police report on the incident at 2.50am.

“On Feb 19, at approximately 9.05am, the search team found the victim’s body near the bridge’s pillars.

“Family members identified the body at the Timur Laut police headquarters, and it was taken to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement today.
