IPOH: Two 16-year-old secondary school students are feared to have drowned while trying to retrieve a ball from a river at Kampung Tepus near Parit today.
Perak fire and rescue department assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they were students of SMK Sultan Muhammad Shah in Parit.
He said police received a call regarding the incident at about 4.20pm.
“A search and rescue operation has been launched, assisted by villagers using fishing boats,” he said in a statement.
Sabarodzi said the weather was cloudy and the river currents were strong but the rescue operation was ongoing.
