Man killed in early morning armed robbery

Police say the victim sustained severe injuries after being slashed on his right hand and left palm.

PETALING JAYA:
An elderly man was killed after being slashed with a parang during a robbery in Teluk Intan, Perak, this morning.

Hilir Perak police chief Chua Kok Lian said the incident occurred at about 6am when the victim’s wife was outside their house preparing for prayers, and the man was resting inside.

He said three masked men were believed to have climbed over the house’s wall before breaking into the house and threatening the victim in an attempt to steal jewellery, reported Sinar Harian.

The victim sustained severe injuries after being slashed on his right hand and left palm and was confirmed dead at the scene.

The intruders fled with jewellery and cash belonging to the victim, Chua said. The value is still being ascertained.

Police are looking for three men, believed to be in their 20s to 30s.
