Zaliha said based on national poverty database eKasih, Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of households living in hardcore poverty at 507 families comprising 1,737 people.
This was a slight increase from the 474 households in Kuala Lumpur recorded in November. However, the total number of households in hardcore poverty nationwide decreased from 2,191.
Kedah was second highest with a total of 1,227 people living in hardcore poverty, followed by Johor (910), Selangor (784), and Terengganu (735).
There are no families in hardcore poverty in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis, and Putrajaya, said Zaliha.
“The eKasih data is dynamic in nature and is constantly being updated. The data is channelled to aid agencies, as well as the Padu database being managed by the economy ministry,” she said in a written Dewan Rakyat reply.
