Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said the 25-year-old suspect was allegedly unhappy with his 21-year-old wife following a domestic dispute.
He said CCTV footage showed the suspect’s Toyota Vellfire blocking the car occupied by his wife, two other women and a man.
“He doused the car with petrol and set it on fire before fleeing the scene in his car,” Berita Harian quoted Raub as saying.
He said the woman’s car was 80% destroyed, with the loss estimated at RM90,000. She later lodged a report at the Majidee police station.
There were no reports of injuries to the four victims.
The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire.
