PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin was questioned by the police today as part of its investigation into a rape case allegedly involving a minister’s son.

In a Berita Harian report, Badrul, also known as Chegubard, said he was called in to assist in the investigation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588).

Section 233 criminalises online content that is “obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive in character with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person”.

“This is about the ‘rule of law’,” said Badrul.

“When a police report is made, an investigation will be carried out,” added the activist.

It was previously reported that police had completed its investigation into allegations of criminal intimidation involving the son of a minister.

The investigation paper was handed over to the deputy public prosecutor on Jan 6 for further action.

On Jan 8, Badrul said he had cancelled plans to lodge a police report on an alleged rape and intimidation case involving a minister’s son.

He said the decision was made after learning that the purported victim had withdrawn her police report.
