
He said an initial investigation by a DOSH team discovered the lack of work safety procedures, Kosmo reported.
“Kelantan DOSH has issued the quarry company’s management a notice prohibiting dismantling activities,” he said.
Aziz added that the company’s management and staff were summoned to the Kelantan DOSH office to give their statements.
He said legal action will be taken against those responsible if violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 are found to have occurred.
Aziz said the Act provides for a maximum fine of RM500,000 if found guilty.
It was previously reported that the 28-year-old assistant mechanic died after being crushed by the rubber counterweight of a conveyor.
Pasir Puteh police chief Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said they received a report about a man who became unconscious after being crushed at the quarry, and immediately sent out a team of officers from the Selising police station and Pasir Puteh police headquarters.
The victim later died at the scene. His body was sent to Tengku Anis Hospital for a post-mortem.
Zaizul said there were no criminal elements in the case, which has been classified as sudden death.
